I'd fill a bowl full of roses

Leave them at your door

Move out of the way

Hide in the corner

Watch as you find them.

You move ideas around like chess pieces; deliberate, intentional

Your words are measured; careful

I'm a jabbering mess.

Saying what comes to mind as it enters.  Tripping over my tongue. Saying the wrong thing. I fumble.

You are cautious -

and your quiet makes me shy

In my head, I am bold

In my head, I pretend

If I could,

I'd cup the roses in my hands,

lift them to your lips

and count your breaths.
